Executive Members
Barry Hunter - Chief Executive Officer
Barry joined The Sports & Leisure Group as CEO in January 2003. Barry is a business graduate from Aston University. He has held brand Management roles with British Airways and HJ Heinz, and spent 9 years with International sports brand Adidas and later became the Managing Director for Adidas Benelux and Adidas UK and Ireland.
Nigel Maglione - Company Secretary & Chief Financial Officer
Nigel is a qualified A.C.M.A (1982) and a graduate in Business Law. He joined Whitbread as a graduate trainee in 1979 and held a number of Financial Management positions within the group, including Financial Controller (Whitbread Hotels Division), Finance & Commercial Director (Whitbread Pizza Hut - Europe) and Systems Director (Whitbread Inns). Nigel joined The Sports & Leisure Group in 2000 as the Company Secretary & CFO.
Non-Executive Members
David Bernstein - Chairman
David joined The Sports & Leisure Group as Non-Executive Chairman in October 2006. David was a chartered accountant by profession before joining Pentland Group as Joint Managing Director in 1988. David is perhaps best known for his time as Chairman of Manchester City Plc, when he successfully regenerated the club, negotiated the club's occupation of the City of Manchester Stadium following the Manchester Commonwealth games 2002, and lead the club from the 2nd division to the Premier League. David holds Non-Executive roles with a number of well known UK companies, including: Blacks Leisure Group Plc, Carluccios Plc, Ted Baker Plc and Wembley National Stadium Ltd.
Mark Phillips - Non Executive
Mark is a founding Director of Penta and had previously been an Investment Executive with the private equity team at The Royal Bank of Scotland. Mark holds an honours degree in Economics and Law from the University of Strathclyde as well as an MBA from the University of Edinburgh
Marian Holmes - Non Executive
Marian joined the CSSC in 1997 as Chief Executive on secondment from the Inland Revenue. A graduate in Mathematics from Hull University she trained as an Inspector of Taxes and has spent most of her career combining technical tax work with management of local offices.
Ray Haskell - Non Executive
Following several years in land surveying and a short period with the Civil Service, Ray joined CSSC in September 1982. In May 1985, Ray was promoted to Estate Manager. In the late 1990s he was the prime instigator of The Sports & Leisure Group joint-venture.
