The Sports & Leisure Group's main share holder is the Civil Service Sports Council (CSSC) through its subsidiary CSSC Properties Ltd.
CSSC
The CSSC is a friendly society with more than 115,000 members which owns high acreage, sports and leisure grounds, predominantly freehold, at more than 40 locations throughout the UK. The CSSC established The Sports & Leisure Group in 1999 to fund the re-development of its existing sites in order to improve the economics of its sites and offer its membership more modern sports and leisure facilities. The CSSC recognised that opening up its assets for private sector investment would enable The Sports & Leisure Group to develop as an independent and successful operator.
